Legendary crooner coming to Cincinnati

Johnny Mathis, whose tenor voice is familiar to millions, will be appearing at the Aronoff Center, in Procter & Gamble Hall, next month.

A native of Texas who was raised in San Francisco, Mathis began his career in 1956, releasing his first album “Johnny Mathis: A New Sound in Popular Song” that year. Although the album was a slow seller, he made an appearance the following year on the immensely popular “Ed Sullivan Show,” which gave him a boost.

Mathis's albums have been extremely popular, with several dozen reaching gold status, andsome going to platinum. No fewer than 73 have been on the Billboard charts. In addition, Mathis was honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and three of his recordings—“Chances Are,” “Misty,” and “It's Not for Me to Say”—saw him inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame three separate times. His voice has made his Christmas albums popular as well.

A review of a Johnny Mathis concert said:

“. . . as incredible as the crooner sounded, I wasn’t surprised by that. Anyone who has followed him has the expectation that first-rate singing, along with the display of a still stunning vocal range, will be components of any Mathis show.”

Johnny Mathis will appear in Cincinnati at 8.00 pm on March 14. Brochure printing can create informative programs for his type of performance.
