Steven Eugene Grove, whose stage name is Euge Groove, is a native of Hagerstown, Maryland. When he was seven, Euge started playing the piano, and two years later, added the saxophone. He was strongly influenced by two sax players – Marcel Mule, a classical player, and David Sanborn, who modified the Mule sound to make it more mainstream. Throughout the years, Euge has blended blues, gospel, R&B, and jazz into his own sound.
In the mid-1980s, Euge started his professional career in Miami, where he played in salsa bands and clubs. He also worked as a session player, and in 1987, after he relocated to Los Angeles, wrote a song called “The Power of Suggestion” for Richard Elliot. Elliot suggested Euge replace him in the Tower of Power. He was with the band for four years, including one year when TOP backed Huey Lewis & The News. He has worked with artists like Richard Marx, The Eurythmics, and Elton John.
A concert review says:
“All of the essential ingredients . . . were in position for a fantastic evening of contemporary jazz steeped in funk, and Euge Groove and his musical allies responded with a gem of a powerful performance.”
Euge Groove dropped his latest album, “Sing My Song,” in 2020, and will be at the Ludlow Garage on April 29. Organizers of events like this can create striking advertising by using poster printing.
