A new grocery store and lunch spot will be opening in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood later this year.
The store, Epicurean Mercantile Co., will open near Findlay Market. It will be located in Over-the-Rhine, at 1818 Race Street, and have 5,700 square feet of space, where it will operate as a full-service grocery. The market will offer drinks, seasonal gift items, shelf-stable foods, and fresh foods that will complement the goods offered at Findlay Market.
Findlay Market features a stand known as the Fresh Table, owned by Louis Snowden and Meredith Trombly. Currently, the market prepares ready-to-eat meals, mostly entrees and salads, using locally-sourced ingredients in its demonstration kitchen. Snowden and Trombly have partnered with Chef Dan Jensen in the store venture, and Jensen will prepare food at the lunch counter from groceries found in the store.
The new store is part of a revitalization effort led by the Model Group, a developer based in Walnut Hills. The project seeks to rehabilitate buildings on Race Street's 1800 block, transforming them into offices, retail spaces, and residences. The Market Square development project carries a price tag of $24m, and the store is expected to open in September.
Owners could consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for city residents, announcing the planned opening, and inviting them to attend.
