Famed mezzo-soprano coming to Cincinnati

One of the world’s most celebrated singers is coming to Cincinnati.

Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard has thrilled audiences in both the opera house and concert hall, performing in such distinguished venues as the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and more. Her roles include Charlotte in “Werther,” Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” and Miranda in “The Tempest.” The roles are sung in French, Italian, and English, respectively and she has worked with some of today’s finest conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Marin Allsop.

Leonard was born in New York City where she sang in the children’s chorus of the Manhattan School of Music for five years, then attended high school. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the renowned Julliard School.

Leonard won two Grammys for Best Opera Recording, one in 2014 for “The Tempest” by Thomas Adès', and another in 2016 for L'enfant et les sortilèges” by Ravel. She won a third Grammy in 2021 for Best Classical Compendium for her performance in “From the Diary of Anne Frank & Meditations on Rilke.”

In addition to her musical performances, she has appeared in films and on television, including a visit to “Sesame Street.” Music critic Jason Victor Serinus called Leonard:

“One of the brightest talents on the American opera scene to emerge in the new millennium.”

Isabel Leonard will be at the Memorial Hall in Cincinnati on December 1. To create advertising for events such as this, venues will often use poster printing.
