Charlie Berens is a comedian and journalist, and is the creator of a series of videos known as the “Manitowoc Minute.” He has been featured on MTV News, Variety, TBS Digital, Funny or Die, CBS, and FOX. His observational style of comedy often draws from his childhood and life in the Midwest.
Berens grew up in New Berlin and Elm Grove, both small towns in Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Marquette University High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied broadcast journalism.
He began his career in entertainment at MTV, where he worked on “Choose or Lose,” an MTV news program. In 2012, Tribune Media tapped Bernes to host “Nightcap” a comedic news program.
Berens has appeared on “Funny or Die,” and his odd comedic endeavors, such as “If Jack Dawson was Really from Wisconsin,” have been viewed more than 13 million times. Berens’s video series “Manitowoc Minute” inspired the “Oh My Gosh!” tour that sold out theaters statewide. A review says:
“Berens has a relatable quality . . . This self-deprecating style of humor along with his myriad facial expressions . . . creates belly laughs . . .”
Charlie Berens will be at the Taft Theatre on January 9 at 7.00 pm. Posters are a traditional means of advertising events like this, and organizers can obtain them from Print shops.
