The Clay Wade Bailey Bridge, which connects Covington, Kentucky with downtown Cincinnati, got a facelift recently.
The work was funded by a grant provided by the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation, in the amount of $40,000.
The work was carried out on the Covington side of the bridge, and includes landscaping such as decorative rocks and new planters, and multiclored spotlights and LED lights. The improvements are designed to improve the appearance of the route that connects the Northern Kentucky Convention Center to hotels located on Third Street.
According to Pat Frew, who is the executive director of the Covington Business Council (CBC), the work has improved the area so it makes a much better impression on visitors and residents alike. Frew noted that when people attend conventions, they often stay in hotels on Third Street, and walk to the center. The will now be able to enjoy the stroll even more, and the work on the bridge is just the beginning.
Covington officials also plan to repair roads and widen sidewalks near the IRS building, which is located close to the bridge. A public art project is also slated for installation on West RiverCenter Boulevard. This project is funded by the Haile Foundation, and should be finished by early fall this year.
When officials undertake outdoor projects, they can enhance the work by displaying colorful Banners to help celebrate it.
