Two decades years after its founding, the Know Theater is announcing its new season, according to an article on Cincinnati.com.
The troupe often features lesser-known playwrights and works that are not widely performed. Andrew Hungerford, the theater’s producing artistic director, says they like to put on experiment works.
The season starts with ‘Marian: The True Story of Robin Hood’, by Adam Szymkowicz. The work experiments with the idea that Robin Hood was not a man, but Maid Marian in disguise. Likewise, the ‘merry men’ are not all men, but mostly women. Hungerford says the group has started with a comedy because audiences seem to like lighter fare in the summer, but also because women around the world still fight gender inequality. The show is a regional premiere.
The other shows on the list are ‘The Arsonists’ by Jacqueline Goldfinger, ‘Neverwhere’ by Robert Kauzlaric adapted from a Neil Gaiman novel, ‘SuperTrue’ by Karen Hartman, ‘Kill Move Paradise’ by James Ijames, and ‘Ada and the Engine’ by Lauren Gunderson.
‘Marian’ runs July 29 to August 19, then ‘The Arsonists’ is up September 22 to October 14. ‘Neverwhere’ is on tap from November 25 to December 17, and ‘SuperTrue’ from January 19 to February 10. After that, ‘Kill Move Paradise’ is up from March 2-24, and the season ends with ‘Ada and the Engine’, running April 13 to May 12. Complete details are on the theater's website.
Efforts like this can benefit if management works with a poster printing company to create a poster for each production.
