Brad Williams is a native of Orange, California, but went to high school in Fullerton and then attended the University of Southern California. However, he decided against continuing with college and left to pursue a career in comedy and acting.
Williams was born with a condition known as achondroplasia, which is a type of dwarfism. In fact, it was his size that set him on his career. When he was 19, he went to a live show by comedian Carlos Mencia, who made a few jokes about dwarfism without realizing Williams was in the audience. When he saw the young man, who took the jokes in stride, Mencia invited Williams onto the stage. His impromptu performance impressed Mencia, and he encouraged Williams to pursue a career in stand-up comedy, even asking him to open on the road.
Since then, he has become one of the most sought-after comedians now working. He has appeared on film and television, and his “Fun Size,” a one-hour special that aired on Showtime, was its highest rated special. His second program, “Daddy Issues,” drew this comment from the New York Times:
“No one is doing stand-up comedy more hilariously than Brad Williams.”
