A new film will start shooting in Cincinnati soon, and the city will be standing in for Compton, California.
According to
an article on the Cincinnati.com website, the city's film commission just announced that Lifetime Television has chosen to film in the Queen City. Lifetime is partnering with Thinkfactory and Sony on the film, a movie titled “Girl from the Hood,” that tells the story of R&B singer Michel'le.
Michel'le's full name is Michel'le Toussaint, and she is a native of California. The film will explore her career, including her relationships with boyfriend Dr. Dre, who produced her debut album in 1989, and her move to Death Row Records, which had been founded by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and The D.O.C. Rap artists signed to Death Row included MC Hammer, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac Shakur.
Michel'le's hit songs include “Something in My Heart,” and “No More Lies.” She's also one of the stars of the reality television show “R&B Divas: Los Angeles,” broadcast on TV One. According to the announcement, the film will chronicle the difficulties she faced, as well as her triumph.
“Girl from the Hood” is expected to start shooting some time at the end of June this year, and the production is still looking for extras.
Flyer printing companies can create handouts with information for people visiting during filming, such as what streets are blocked off and where parking is available.
