Cincinnati officials to request proposals for new hotel

Officials of the City of Cincinnati, along with leaders of other local organizations, recently announced they are requesting proposals for a new upscale hotel to be built in the city's downtown.

Leaders of the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp, The Port, Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau, Hamilton County, and the city itself, joined to issue a news release about the reason for requesting proposals from contractors interested in building a new hotel.

The release said in part that both private companies and public agencies have felt for some time that a new, large hotel near the convention center is needed in order to attract conventions to Cincinnati, and generate revenue for the city and the surrounding area. The idea of building such a hotel has been in the works for about 10 years. With the use of brochure printing, Booklets can be produced that show the amenities of such a proposed property.

At present, the Millennium is the main hotel serving the convention center, but officials say it is outdated, and one reason why companies choose to hold conventions elsewhere. Speaking on behalf of the Millennium, Erik Anderouard said the hotel has always been a good corporate citizen, and provide convention-goers with safe, clean rooms at reasonable rates. He went on to say the hotel was looking forward to discussing plans with the city and will continue to work with Cincinnati in the future.
