The Children's Learning Adventure center, a chain of childcare centers, currently has 38 locations, and is about to open two more in the Cincinnati area.
The mammoth centers comprise 33,000 square feet and offer various programs for children from six weeks to twelve years of age. One location is in West Chester and should be open sometime in March. A second is in Deerfield Township near Mason-Montgomery Road, and is expected to be open by the end of the summer.
The centers offer specialized classrooms. There are seven in each center, including a kitchen, an outdoor garden, a science laboratory that has a planetarium, and a pretend television studio. Tables in the cooking classroom are on hydraulic lifts so they can be raised or lowered to suit the ages of the children working on them.
In addition to the classrooms, 10,000 square feet are reserved for kindergarteners through sixth-graders, who can bowl, play on a basketball court, dance in a ballet studio, or look at Xbox Kinects or iPads. An outdoor playground comprising 35,000 square feet is also available.
The center's vice president of development, Daniel Peterson, says the learning environment at Children's Learning Adventure is unlike anything else in the region. He also revealed the company plans to hire about 100 employees for each location.
