Alt-rocker coming to Cincinnati

An artist who made her name with alternative rock bands is coming to Cincinnati.

Kim Deal is a native of Dayton, Ohio, who was a co-vocalist and the original bassist with the influential alternative rock band the Pixies. She was with them from 1986 until 1993, and again from 2004 to 2013. In 1989, she formed another band, the Breeders, and was its frontwoman.

Her current tour supports “Nobody Loves You More,” her solo debut album, though not her first solo release. That honor goes to a series of songs she released on vinyl in 2013. She recorded two of the songs on the album, “Wish I Was” and “Are You Mine?,” soon after the Pixies wound up their “Lost Cities” Tour, and they were part of that vinyl series. After the tour, Deal moved to Los Angeles where she worked on new compositions with other musicians including Mando Lopez, formerly with the Breeders.

Kim Deal will be at the Woodward Theater on Friday, February 21 at 8:00 pm, with the doors opening an hour earlier. The show is for those 21 years of age and older, but younger attendees will be admitted if they have a paid ticket and are in the company of a legal guardian. When they set up appearances like this, organizers will often use poster printing to create the advertising to promote them.
