A cappella is an Italian phrase that literally translates as “in chapel or choir style.” At one time, scholars thought all music written in the chapel style was probably performed without instruments, but research has shown that instruments were sometimes used in place of voices. Today, the phrase means a vocal performance sung without instrumental accompaniment, which is the trademark of the group Home Free.
Home Free first got together in 2000 in Minnesota, singing rock, soul, pop, country, and whatever they liked. They began to narrow their focus, and today are thought to be a country group. They began touring extensively, and starting releasing albums, dropping “From the Top” in 2007. Their true breakthrough came in 2013, when they won “The Sing-Off,” a television competition program. They landed a deal with Sony/Columbia, and saw their albums hitting the top of the country charts.
While they perform mostly country-style songs from artists like Blake Shelton and Vince Gill, their setlist includes songs from musicians and groups like The O'Jays, Shakira, and Ed Sheeran. A review says:
“3rd time to see these awesome dudes. I have two degrees in music and they amaze me!!!!! Love them!!!”
Home Free will be at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on March 23, 2021, at 8.00 pm. Brochure printing can provide informative programs for this type of event.
