RVC on its marks for traditional yearly races

The Village of Rockville Centre’s is once again holding its annual series of races hosted by the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce and Parks & Recreation Department.

The 1 Mile Family Fun Run, as well as a 5K and 10K run, have been held each year for 37 years. The first event of the day is the Family Fun Run, a one-mile course that starts at 9:00 am sharp near the LIRR Station on Front Street, with an entry fee of $10 per person.

The 5K and 10K runs, 3.1 and 6.2 miles respectively, begin at 10:00 am sharp on Park Avenue near Sunrise-Highway. Preregistration is $20 for the 5K Run and $25 for the 10 K Run. Seniors (60+) can preregister for the 5K or 10K for only $10. Preregistration runs through October 30.

Late registration fees are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K runs. Free T-Shirts will be given to the Fun Run’s first 100 children registered, and the first 800 registered either for the 5K or 10K.

The use of a flyer printing service can both promote the event and warn drivers of road closures on the day.

Finish Line Road Race Technicians is providing the official times using Chronotrack Timing Technology. Race day takes place rain or shine on Saturday, November 7.
