It likely comes as no surprise to residents here, but it has nevertheless been confirmed that Rockville Centre is one of the most Irish place in New York.
Confirmation of this came from NerdWallet, a personal finance website that is known for its unique and imaginative comparative lists. NerdWallet developed criteria to determine the most Irish places in New York just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, and most of the top spots went to locations outside the city.
After evaluating 190 communities with population of at least 10,000, only three communities placed higher than Rockville Centre: Pearl River, Sayville, and Garden City. Rockville was noted by NerdWallet for its numerous Irish restaurants and shops, as well as its St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which raises money for Irish charities.
New York City has historically been home to a large contingent of Irish immigrants and their families, which is why the city is host to one the country's oldest and largest St. Patrick's Day Parades. However, as the Irish's fortunes improved, they, like every other ethnic group, moved to the suburb.
If Rockville Centre’s city officials are not already including the strong ‘Irish Flavor’ of the community in promotional materials, now would be a good time to start. With a call to the city’s Print companies, Rockville Centre’s position as one of the state’s ‘Most Irish Places’ could become even more widely known.Get a Free Quote for Print
