As the weather begins to turn colder and the sounds of silver bells fill the air, the Rockville Centre Library is looking to help young people with its Holiday Gifts crafts event.
Two different gift ideas will be available to participants. The first one is a homemade lip balm and sugar scrub. Attendees will combine sugar, some oil, and different aromatics to create an individualized moisturizer and exfoliant that is more personal than what’s available in stores. The second gift is a chalkboard mug. Participants will cover the bottom section of a plain mug with porcelaine chalkboard paint, creating a drinking vessel that people can draw on. Visitors can also make some chocolate spoons to go with the cup.
The two different gifts will be made on two different days. Attendees will be given everything they need to make the gift, as well as instructions on what to do. Additionally, there may be some extra material on the side to make Holiday Cards to go with the gifts. It has not been announced whether wrapping paper will also be provided.
The Holiday Gifts Crafts event will be held at 4:00 p.m. on December 9 for the sugar scrub and December 16 for the chalkboard mug at the Rockville Centre Public Library. Attendance is free, but limited to youths between grades five and twelve. Anyone looking for more information should contact the library directly
