Running enthusiasts in the Rockville Centre area are getting ready for the Rockville Centre 10k, 5k, and 1 Mile Family Fun Run. The event offers a mix of professional level competition, with family friendly exercise.
The two longer races will run through the center and northern parts of the village. The runs will be timed with Chronotrack Timing Technology, and will be certified by David Katz, the official timer of the summer games in Rio. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finisher overall, and in several other categories.
The Fun Run will be a family friendly course around the center of the village. It will not be timed, and instead a trophy will be given out to every finisher aged 12 and under. As part of the event, free T-Shirts bearing the Logo Design of the race will be given out to the first 100 children to register for the fun run, and the first 800 adults to register for the 5k or 10k.
The Rockville Centre 10k, 5k, and 1 Mile Family Fun Run will be held on November 12 at 8:30 am for the fun run, and 9:30 am for the other two. The races will all begin at the train station located on Front St. Entry is $30 for the 10k, $25 for the 5k, and $10 for the fun run. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
