Rockville Centre area gets disaster ready

The organizers of a Rockville Centre area workshop believe that everyone can play a role in community preparedness, and it will provide attendees with information and tips that may be helpful in a weather or other emergency.

The free NY Citizens Preparedness Program provides a way for the public to learn how to be ready for an emergency. To aid event organizers, it has been requested that everyone interested sign up in advance.

The attendees in the session, which will begin in the morning, will be learning how they prepare for a disaster so that they will be able to respond properly and help their community recover. Both natural emergencies and man-made situations will be covered, and they will be walked through the steps of preparing a family emergency plan. Preparedness kits will be distributed to participants free of charge.

Ensuring everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency can be an important step in community safety. Branded Promotional Products including small crank LED flashlights, water storage bottles, thumb drives, and other materials can be prepared for an activity like this by area printers.

The NY Citizens Preparedness Program is being offered on April 26. Support has been provided by the New York National Guard as well as Homeland Security Emergency Services.

It will take place at 10 Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook, near Rockville Centre.
