Grammy-winning writer visits Rockville Centre

Residents in Rockville Centre and its surrounding areas are getting ready for a once in a lifetime concert.

The Madison Theatre Presents Jimmy Webb in Concert is the New York premiere performance of the well-known singer songwriter as he debuts his latest work.

Webb is a multi-Grammy winner best known for writing such well known songs as ‘MacArthur Park’, ‘Galveston’, ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix’, and ‘All I Know’, each of which went platinum. His songs have been performed by a slew of well-known artists, including R.E.M., Isaac Hayes, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. He has also released six full length albums.

Aside from writing song lyrics, Webb is also a composer, which will be part of the concert. The event marks the debut performance in New York of Webb’s Piano Concerto No. 1., which will be played by Jeff Biegel. Afterwards, Webb and the South Shore Symphony will perform some of his greatest hits. Special merchandise including music CDs and booklet printings of some of Webb’s work will be available after the show.

Jimmy Webb in Concert will be held on February 25 at 8:00 pm at the Madison Theatre, located at 30 Hempstead Ave. Tickets are $50 a person or $100 for VIP, which includes access to a cocktail party.
