World roots band to perform at Melville art camp

The Brown Rice Family Band will perform live at the Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts in July.

Fans of live music can attend a concert by the Brown Rice Family Band. The show will be held at the summer camp’s McKinley Amphitheater and will be part of the venue’s seasonal music festival. The Brown Rice Family Band was created by Yuichi and Joe Jang and is comprised of band members from around the world. The group’s music combines jazz, rock, reggae, and hip-hop elements. Some original songs from the band include Moving Forward and Believe in Yourself.

The Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts is an organization where children can develop their creative interests in a safe and supportive environment. Many actors, painters, writers, and dancers visit the camp to teach classes to campers. The camp opened in 1968 and was created by Dr. Maurice B. Hexter, Andrew McKinley, and Samuel Lemberg. The subjects taught by the organization include creative writing, theater, chess, and art.

The Brown Rice Family Band will perform at the camp on Friday, July 12th. The show will start at 12:10 pm and 12:35 pm. Registration for the show is not necessary.
