Stem cell company awarded new patent

A patent has recently been granted to a medical device that was developed by BioRestorative Therapies, Inc. of Melville. As the company focuses on therapies using stem cells, this device can deliver cells and other therapeutic substances or products to a place on the body where damage has occurred and is need of repair.

This is a curved-needle device that can deliver materials such as living cells to specific locations within the body so that potential damage to cells nearby can be reduced. The concept of using these enables cellular and other therapeutics of a biologic nature to be placed in areas where surrounding structures prevent direct access to the area in need of repair. These can include spinal cord and spinal nerves with regard to the disc and vertebra.

The patent will enable the company to use or sub-license the device to administer specific cells or products of cells to the spine, disc and other parts of the body.

Using tissue and cells protocols that primarily utilize adult stem cells, BioRestorative Therapies, Inc. develops medical and therapeutic products. The company has two programs that relate to the treatment of metabolic disorders and disc and spine diseases.

The company may be turning to various printing services to inform companies within its industry of this latest patent and how it can benefit patients.
