Henry Schein, Inc., with headquarters in Melville, recently announced that it will once again be partnering with the Taylor Hooton Foundation and the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society to support the Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth or Play Campaign for 2016.
This campaign is held in Major League Baseball stadiums and educates children and teens about the importance of eating right, staying active, and making routine visits to their dentists and physicians.
A donation of $40,000 is being made by the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc. and the Athletics and Schools business of Henry Schein for 24 PLAY events. This means that over the past four years in which Henry Schein has participated in this venture, its joint contribution with the Foundation amounts to $160,000.
Along with the financial donation, those children who are selected from local community organizations also received a backpack with such items as dental floss, a tooth brush and toothpaste, a mouth guard, and sunscreen.
In the pack are other items to help with maintaining healthy habits, including hand sanitizer, a score card to track teeth brushing and hand washing, and Thera-Band exercise bands. Henry Schein may have worked with a local Print company to create this score card to make it more attractive to children and teens to fill it out on a daily basis.
