Melville-based Canon U.S.A., Inc., recently announced the Connect Station CS100, a device for the storage of photographs and videos that can connect multiple imaging devices that are compatible with each other, so that users can store, view, and share videos and images.
The Connect Station has one terabyte (1,000 gigabytes) of storage that can be used solely for videos and photographs. Its Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities, along with Wi-Fi, enable users to import new images and videos from a compatible Canon digital camera or camcorder to the CS100 by simply tapping on the NFC icon. These can then be shared and viewed to a high-definition television connected to the CS100 by means of an HDMI cable.
According to the president and COO of Canon U.S.A., Yuichi Ishizuka, this new device will help consumers to use Wi-Fi and Canon technologies to share, view, and store the images and videos they value the most.
The CS100 has other capabilities likely to intrigue consumers, who can Print from the device to printers to make hard Copies. Using a web browser, they can also view images from computers or mobile platforms via the device.
