School Leaders for Change will be organizing a conference in February at the Marriott Melville Long Island.
Integrated STEM and MAKER SPACE: Building Pedagogy & Standards into Design is a two-part seminar where instructors can learn how to improve how they teach science to children. The first part of the program will cover the NYS Science Learning Standards and the strategies teachers can use to implement them better. The second section of the conference will show instructors how to utilize Makerspace stations to help students think deeper about ideas.
The keynote speaker of the STEM conference will be Donna Migdol, a teacher and educational consultant who was chosen as the NYS Elementary Science Teacher of the year. She has worked with instructors from SUNY Old Westbury and Hofstra University, and is the STEM co-chair for the National Academies of Science Convocation. Migdol’s work has also been featured in a book titled The Schools Our Children Deserve.
The informative conference will be held on Wednesday, February 15 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Individual tickets to the event will cost guests $260, though a discount is available for those who buy their tickets before January 27. People who buy three or more tickets will also get a discount. Organizations behind conferences like this may use brochure printing to give guests a presentation schedule.
