Melville fans of the fantasy genre can join an upcoming book club meeting in December held virtually over a Zoom call.
The Half Hollow Hills Community Library will be organizing an online book discussion about the novel A Wizard of Earthsea. The story was written by Ursula K. Le Guin and is the first part of the Earthsea series. The novel follows the adventures of Ged, a great sorcerer who accidentally unleashes a dangerous shadow on his world. Several awards were given to the book, including the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction and Lewis Carroll Shelf Award.
Ursula K. Le Guin was an accomplished novelist who has written more than 20 Books during her career. Her past series include the Novels of the Ekumen, Books of Earthsea, and Annals of the Western Shore. She also earned the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. Le Guin has also written in the sci-fi genre with her book titled The Left Hand of Darkness. The Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club will be meeting on Tuesday, December 28th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The book discussion is intended for adults and will be presented by Caryn Emde. There is no fee to join the session, and A Wizard of Earthsea will be available to download at no cost to those with library cards.
