Tomorrow will see the return of the New York Brain Tumor Walk to Melville, as the never-ending campaign to raise awareness into the issue continues apace. Banner printing to get the message out there has been going on for many weeks now.
Held by the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS), the event has proven to be extremely popular with folks from Melville and the surrounding areas over previous years.
Now it in its third year, the event is about more than simply promoting the need for people to know about the devastating effects of brain tumors.
The walk is also all about raising vital funds for the efforts of the NBTS. It is a key goal of the society to drive initiatives into the research and treatment of tumors, empowering those living with the condition to have as full a life as possible.
The New York Walk is a great way to do this. Being a family friendly affair for the whole community to take part in too, local printing companies are walking the extra mile to promote it too.
As well as the hardy walkers taking part, many volunteers are also needed to make the event a great success, just as it was in 2012.
Anyone interested in helping out is urged to contact the society. Volunteers are being sought to help with registration on the day, and in many other areas, such as in the food tents and kids areas.
The third annual New York Brain Tumor Walk takes place on Saturday, June 15, starting from Governors Island at 7:00 am.
