Melville company announces software update

A new version of the VirtuMedix virtual care delivery platform has recently been released by Comtech Telecommunications Corp. with an office in Melville.

VirtuMedix is a telemedicine application that enables practitioners in the healthcare industry to provide patient care on any device and in any place there is a Wi-Fi connection.

The user interface has been enhanced and simplified so that patients can register ahead of their doctor visits and find out more about their costs. The interface for doctors has also been enhanced so that patients can see of their doctors are logged in. Administrators are also able to ensure that doctor and patient profiles adhere to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

The Affordable Care Act has increased the demand for new patients, meaning doctors and other healthcare professionals were in need of an alternative to more traditional methods of providing patient care.

According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., Dr. Stanton Sloane, this upgrade to VirtuMedix will enable doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide online consultations with patients and enable patients to take advantage of various cost incentives.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. might benefit from various marketing services to help promote and advertise this upgrade to its product so that the healthcare community can improve its telehealth offerings and build a clientele base.
