Inaugural medal recipients announced

The nine finalists of the first Henry Schein Cares Medal have recently been announced by Melville-based Henry Schein, Inc., a provider of healthcare services and products to animal health, dental and medical practitioners.

The award will now be given every year to organizations that have been particularly effective in providing care to the underserved and those in need.

The Henry Schein Cares Medal is the latest in the company’s Henry Schein Cares social responsibility program, in which the company uses its resources to support healthcare professionals around the world who cater for those who would otherwise have little or no access to healthcare.

Expert judges from the fields of business, philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and medicine formed a panel to evaluate the applications, select the finalists, and determine those who will receive the medal in each of the three categories: oral health, animal health, and medical health.

Products from the company worth $10,000 will be given to the nine finalists. Each of the three medalists for each respective business unit, which will be announced at the company's national sales meeting, will receive an additional $15,000 in cash from the company to support their charitable efforts.

Henry Schein may be looking to a local Print company for the printing of applications for the 2016 period, and the requirements for being considered as a candidate for the award.
