Winterfest returns to Syracuse

Many Liverpool residents who love New York winters are heading to Syracuse Winterfest, for a celebration of snow.

The 10-day event begins next week, with this year’s theme being “Syracuse Winterfest RE-BOOT.”

Each day of the festival will have a Treasure Hunt that starts at noon. Until 5:00 pm, hunters will be looking for the 1.5-inch plastic Treasure Hunt medallion. The finder will win $2,000.

The Kick-off party will run from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Marriott Syracuse Downtown next Friday, February 18, with entertainment by Hard Promises. At 7:30 pm, and again on February 27, the Inner Harbor will light up with fireworks.

Hungry festival guests can enjoy a Wing Walk (featuring chicken), culinary cruise, and a sandwich stroll. Local food and beverage places will be vying for honors in Bloody Mary, martini, sangria, margarita mix-offs, and local eateries will vie for chowder and chili-cook off honors.

Winners of contests such as these often take pictures shot at the event to local Print shops to be used in their business advertising campaigns.

Other activities include a cornhole tournament, a human dogsled race, and beer tasting. Adam Vural, a professional chef and ice artisan, will create ice sculpture in front of Marriott Syracuse Downtown.

Winterfest will take place from Thursday, February 17 to Sunday, February 27 in Downtown Syracuse, with Team Trivia finals at Marriott Syracuse Downtown from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on the final day.
