The 33rd Annual AIDS 5K Run or Walk will take place this September at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool.
The event is being organized to raise funds and awareness for HIV, STI, and HCV prevention and testing programs. It also works to provide access to PrEP and ongoing support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, while promoting efforts to reduce the stigma surrounding the disease.
Participants can choose between running the 5K or joining a community walk at their own pace. A virtual participation option is available for those unable to attend in person, allowing supporters to join from any location and receive either a T-shirt or a runner’s cap. Both in-person and virtual registration fees are set at $35, with proceeds directly funding prevention services, treatment access, and community education initiatives.
The day’s schedule includes check-in at 5:30 pm, a welcome address at 6:15 pm, and the start of the run/walk at 6:30 p.m., followed by an awards presentation and post-event gathering at 7:30 pm. Raffles, food vendors, and entertainment will contribute to a community-centered atmosphere.
Postponed earlier in the year due to air quality concerns, the event returns with renewed energy, aiming to unite residents and visitors in a visible show of support. Organizers encourage participants to attend with friends and family to help make an impact.
Race events like this one may use flyer printing to boost awareness and participation.
The run/walk begins Thursday, September 18th, at 5:30 pm at Saw Mill Creek Shelter, Onondaga Lake Park, Liverpool, New York.
