The competition, which took place on the weekend of November 8, saw 15 teams take on a series of robot challenges against one another.
The competition is always taken seriously by schoolchildren of all ages, and the robotics competitions take place all around the world at every educational level. In total, there are more than 400 VEX robotics competitions all across the world and around 7,300 teams take part, representing 26 countries.
Speaking about the competition, Ray Dromms, a Welch Ally engineer, said:
"This tournament provides kids with an engaging hands-on learning experience that promotes a passion for science and technology -- instilling in them an appreciation for the field and an enthusiasm to pursue STEM related education and careers."
This year’s competition was won by the Chittenago robotics team, which had the nickname ‘Robo Bears’, and won 26 out of 28 clashes on the day. This team will go on to compete at the next robotics competition, which will take place at the SRC Arena in Syracuse in February 2015.
