Ride and run supports local charity

The 17th annual Ride and Run for the Rescue will be taking place again this year towards the end of July.

Liverpool participants may choose to run or walk the USATF-certified 5k, bike the cycling course for 10, 20, 40 or 62 miles, or take it at a slower pace and enjoy the two-mile Family Fun ride.

Packet pickup will be Wednesday, July 26 from noon to 6:00 pm at East Syracuse’s Fleet Feet, 5800 Bridge Street.

The bike rides will cost $50, the 5k Run/Walk $35, and the fee is $20 for the Family Fun Ride for participants 10 years of age and older, or free for those younger than 10. Virtual run and bike tickets are $35. Those pledging to raise at least $150 can get their registration for $15.

Groups participating in events like this every year often buy matching shirts sporting some wild and wacky graphic design.

Registration will open at 6:00 am on race day. The 62-mile ride will begin at 7:00 am, the 40-mile at 8:00 am, and the 20-mile at 9:00 am. At 9:30 am, runners and walkers will start the 5k, and the Family Fun Ride will begin at 10:30 am. Lunch will be provided beginning at 1:00 pm.

This is a fundraiser for Rescue Mission, an organization that gives more than 40,000 meals
annually to local people in need.

Ride and Run for the Rescue will take place Saturday, July 29 at Long Branch Park, 3813 Long Branch Road.
