Pond Hockey Classic returns early 2022

Liverpool hockey lovers are looking forward to the upcoming second annual Syracuse Pond Hockey Classic tournament coming to Strathmore’s Hiawatha Lake in late January 2022.

The tournament will be a round-robin format composed of 16 three-to-six member teams, serious about the sport and out for a good time. Each team is guaranteed at least three games.

Spectators can view the games at Upper Onondaga Park and enjoy free public skating, winter games, music, beverages (including cocoa, soft drinks, beer, and coffee) and hot food for purchase. There will be no admission fees for spectators. Those wishing to support their favorite teams in events such as this often get a little banner printing done to augment their vocal backing.

Tournament participants look forward to the Tournament Kick-off Party and Champions Party afterwards.

Proceeds will go to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Luke’s Army Pediatric Cancer Research Fund and to cover Syracuse Pond Hockey Classic expenses.

Syracuse second annual Pond Hockey Tournament will take place at Hiawatha Lake, 176 Onondaga Park Drive, Syracuse, on Saturday, January 29 beginning at 9:00 am. Championship games will begin at 3:30 pm, and the event is expected to end around 4:30 pm. A rain date of the following Saturday, February 5, has been set.

Entrance to the lake is at the corner of Clairmonte Avenue and Crossett Street. On-street parking will be available on side streets in the Strathmore residential neighborhood and around the lake.
