Local library holds solar eclipse events

Liverpool Public Library at 310 Tulip Street is currently holding an LPL Solar Eclipse Specular, with activities leading up to the main event in early April.

On Tuesday, March 26 beginning at 6:30 pm, Eclipse Explorers will be offering interactive eclipse-related activities, such as making mini eclipse models and viewers.

Jillian Scudder will be discussing her book, "The Milky Way Smells of Rum and Raspberries" and giving details about the upcoming eclipse on Thursday, March 28 at 5:30 pm. Local educator and NASA volunteer Jill Gravante will give a lecture titled "Scientifically Speaking: Eclipse 2024" that same evening, starting at 7:00 pm.

Guests at events such as this often ask the speakers for their Business Cards in order to get in touch with them for other presentations. Eclipse glasses will be available to those who attend any eclipse-related program.

Patrons may watch the eclipse itself on the live NASA streaming coverage shown in the library's Sargent Meeting Room. If there is significant cloud cover locally, the live feed will be moved to the Carman room.

The library also invites everyone to attend the family-friendly Solar Spectacular at Onondaga Lake Park. Younger students will receive learning kits while everyone else gets to test their knowledge in eclipse trivia. Attendees are to meet northwest of the Salt Museum, 6790 Onondaga Lake Parkway on Monday, April 8 beginning at 2:00 pm.
