Liverpool runs for scholarship fund

Syracuse Teacher Association invites everyone to run the Bill Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run coming later in April.

In-person runner registration is $30 and will go up to $35 after April 10. Virtual runs are $25 and are to take place between Monday, April 18 and Sunday, April 24. Proceeds will go to a scholarship given to a graduating Syracuse City School District senior student going on to college for a Social Service or Human Service degree.

Liverpool race participants are encouraged to raise money for the scholarship fund and those raising $100 or more can register for free. Donations can be made on behalf of a race participant or independently on the event website. Money raised so far is over $2,500, surpassing this year’s goal of $1,000. Large local organizations often give monetary Corporate Gifts to charity events such as this.

The course will be on Burnet Park Drive and loop through the park along South Avery Avenue and paralleling Grand Avenue, ending at the Church of Christ on Grand Avenue. There will be three water stations along the way.

The in-person race will be chip-timed, and both in-person and virtual results will be posted on the event’s web page.

The in-person Bill Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run has been scheduled for 9:00 am to noon on Sunday, April 24 at Burnet Park, 522 Burnet Park Drive, Syracuse.
