Liverpool runs 5k for the animals

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be holding its 3rd annual Zoo Run Run toward the end of April.

Registration will be $32 for either the member in-person or virtual walk/runners, and $35 for non-member in-person and virtual walk/runners.

Although individual Liverpool runners are greatly appreciated, registrants may also opt to join or create a team. Children seven years old and younger can participate in the Joey Jog Fun Run.

This year’s teams have registered with names like Runasaurus, Orange You Glad It’s Not a 10K, Bear Claws, and We are the Walrus. Teams that regularly participate in events such as this often get colorful T-Shirts printed with the company’s or group’s graphic or Logo Design. Swag will include finisher medals with the race’s logo design, and free zoo admission.

Proceeds from Zoo Run Run will go to the upkeep of the zoo’s animals and to continue the conservation education the zoo offers to Central New York. This year’s goal is to raise $50,000. Donations will go to items such as animal diets, exhibit substrates, enrichment items, temperature regulators, and technology such as exhibit cameras and artificial sunlight.

The race will open at 7:00 am and end around 11:00 am on Saturday, April 22nd at 1 Conservation Place, Syracuse. Race participants are invited to stick around after the race to learn about the zoo’s animals and enjoy the Party for the Planet.
