Runners here in Liverpool will be rummaging around for their most unattractive clothing to wear at the 7th Annual Ugly Sweater 5K which, will usher in the Christmas season.
This race is one of the running events in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Family Fit Series. Both in-person and virtual running registration will be $40 until October 31 and $42.50 thereafter. The in-person event has been limited to 450 runners.
Swag includes jingle bell bracelets, custom headbands (ear muffs), long-sleeved race shirts sporting this year’s Ugly Sweater 5k graphic design, and finisher medals.
Awards for best overall finisher and winners in each age group will be distributed at the Post Race Party at the Barking Gull, 116 South Willow Street. Three prizes will also be awarded for the Ugly Sweater Contest - one for most unique, another for the most creative, and a third for “best in dress.”
The after party will have free food and discounted drinks for participating runners. The public is invited, too.
Race attendees are asked to bring winter clothing donations and items such as sneakers, boots, mittens, socks, hats, and toiletries. A truck will be on the race site accepting these items for St. Johns Community Services.
This year’s Ugly Sweater 5K will take place November 27 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at Onondaga Lake Park, 106 Lake Drive here in town.
