Many runners here in Liverpool run not only for exercise, but in order to benefit their favorite charities. A couple of charity run/walks have been planned for summer and early fall.
The Chocolate Challenge 5K Walk/Run & 10 K run is scheduled for the end of July. Registration is now open, and includes a 4K walk for $25, a 5K Run for $35, and the 10K Run for $45. There will be a 10K Virtual Run for $40, and anyone daring enough to ride a unicycle will get free registration.
All participants will receive medals, post-race party passes, and T-Shirts complete with the special Chocolate Challenge graphic design on the front.
The post-race party will have all chocolate items like milk, ice cream, fudge, candy, cake and cookies. Proceeds will go to Kelleigh’s Cause, a charity that provides awareness, resources, and research for arteriovenous malformation.
Chocolate Challenge will be July 25 in Long Branch Park. The 5K and 10K will start at 8:00 pm and the 5K walk begins at 8:15 am.
A little later in the year, pre-registration for the 3rd Annual Finishing for Summer 5K Run/Walk will be $30. Registrants will receive T-shirts touting the Finishing for Summer Logo Design. A DJ, food, and drinks await the race participants at the finish line. All proceeds from this event will go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
Onsite registration will begin at 11:00 am on September 13 in Willow Bay Park at Bay View Shelter, 3882 Long Branch Road. The walk/run will begin at 1:00 pm.
