The local library has some notable workshops and programs coming up over the next few weeks.
The first presentation will be a Financial Wellness Workshop for Families. Attendees will learn how to set and achieve goals. Key concepts to be covered will be paying off credit cards and loans, planning for retirement, building savings, and protecting income. Attendees may want to get Business Cards from presenter Jonathan Smith, an investment advisor.
Ashley Maready – a curator of the Erie Canal – will present a lecture on mules. The talk is titled ‘The Erie Canal: The History & Science of Mules’. Maready will discuss the biology, and historical use of these particular animals in canalling, military operations, and mining.
Habitat Gardening in Central New York will be sponsoring a presentation by Colgate University’s Dr. Tim McKay, the topic of which will be earthworms. The 90-minute program will discuss not only the beneficial garden variety of these non-native creatures, but the new Asian variety commonly called “jumping worms” that are truly harmful to our environment.
Family Financial workshop will be presented in the Sargent Meeting Room January 19th from 10:30 am until noon.
Mules will be discussed January 21st from 7:00 to 8:00 pm off site at Runnings, 3949 NY-31.
The earthworm presentation will run from 2:00 until 3:30 pm in the Carman Community Room on January 27.
