Liverpool goes to Syracuse for a holiday concert

The Syracuse Sounds of Music Association, Inc. is sponsoring a Symphor!a Holiday Pops concert in a couple of days.

This event will be an evening of holiday music and dance to celebrate the season. The performance will feature the Syracuse Pops Chorus, Syracuse Children’s Choir, and The Ballet and Dance Center, with special vocalists Nick Ziobro and Julia Goodwin.

The evening’s performance will present everything Christmas, from Bach’s classic ‘Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring’ and excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’, to more modern holiday music numbers such as ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, ‘The Christmas Song’, and ‘Forever Young’. The evening’s program will also include Festive Sounds of Hanukah.

Carols such as ‘Celtic Carol’ and ‘Silent Night’ are also on the agenda. To get the audience participating, everyone will be invited to join in a ‘Sleigh Ride’ sing-along. Christmas movies will not be left out as the orchestra will perform the Overture to Miracle on 34th street and the Polar Express Concert Suite. All this will be under the direction of the Pops conductor Sean O’Loughlin. Santa will make an appearance too.

This will be a great opportunity for parents and relatives to get photos of their children, other family members, and friends for use in printing Holiday Cards.

The concert will be this Saturday, December 19, at 7:30 pm at the Crouse-Hinds Theater at 411 Montgomery St., Syracuse. It may be a good idea to get tickets as soon as possible, as the concert was sold out last year.
