Liverpool goes Italian this month

La Festa Italiana, an upcoming three-day festival, will be celebrating families.

It will be in full swing in a few weeks with contests, Italian-themed activities and food. Liverpool families of Italian decent will be taking pictures for personalized Stationery and family Calendars.

Opening ceremonies will be on the City Hall steps. Two stages will have live entertainment including Ruby Shooz, BlackLites, Carl Lovell, and Bad Husbands Club. Entertainers Paulo & Felice will be strolling through the crowd.

The 1st Annual Charity Meatball Eating contest will take place on the first day of the event. The contestant who eats the most meatballs in one minute will be the winner, and $500 will be donated to the winner’s chosen local charity. The Bocce Challenge will set bocce referees against Channels 3 and 9, elected officials, and judges.

The Bocce Tournament will start the following morning. Bingo will be the main event in the afternoons. A kids’ tent will have contests, face painting, art, music, and crafts. Performances will be by Clown Around Clowns, and Jeff the Magic Man.

Over 25 Italian food vendors will be selling Italian cuisine, beverages and desserts.

La Festa Italiana will be from September 15 from 11:00am until after the Bocce Challenge, September 16 from 9:00am until 5:00pm, and September 17 from 11:00am until 5:00pm in downtown Syracuse, mostly at Montgomery and Washington Streets in front of City
Hall.
