Liverpool continues to enjoy local jazz series

The Jazz Horn Legacy Sextet will be performing in ‘Origins of Jazz: Jumpin’ Jazz from Bebop to Fusion’ here in Liverpool. The event will be free.

This group is known for its brass-based jazz and will be playing in the styles made popular by Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. Led by Jeff Stockham on trumpet and French horn, the sextet will include Mike Dubaniewicz on tenor sax. Paul Merrill will be playing trumpet and Tom Brigandi will be on bass. Other members of the group are Barry Blumenthal on piano and Steve Curry on drums.

This program will actually be the third performance in this year’s Library Series Legends of Jazz II, which started back in January.

The next and final presentation of the series will present modern jazz, as E.S.P. will be playing in concert early in April. This trio comprises Matthew Vacanti on bass, John Magnante on guitar, and Bill D’Agostino on drums. The show will feature modern jazz composed by two members of the group – Vacanti and Magnante.

Jazz enthusiasts will want to mark their Calendars for the Jazz Horn Sextet performance slated for Sunday, March 19 in the Carman Community Room at the Liverpool Library, 310 Tulip Street at 2:00 pm. It will wrap up sometime around 3:30 pm. E.S.P will be performing April 9.
