Liverpool and regions round-about will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a run, Irish road bowling, a kickoff pre-parade party, a Grand Marshal Gala, and a parade.
It all begins with the 15th Annual Tipperary Hill Shamrock Run in Burnet Park, East Syracuse, Saturday March 7th at 11:00 am. Over 3,000 runners are expected to compete in the four-mile run. Runners and spectators are being asked to bring canned or boxed food for the St. Patrick Hunger Project.
Irish Road Bowling will return to Onondaga Lake Park for the 11 Annual Irish Road Bowling Tournament on Sunday, March 8 beginning at 10:00 am. Participating teams will throw 28 oz. “cannonball” bullets or bowls underhanded along a two-mile route. The team with the fewest throws wins.
To raise funds for the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the kick-off event will be at Kitty Hoynes, 301 West Fayette, Syracuse, on March 8 from noon until 5:00 pm.
The Grand Marshal Gala will be Friday, March 13 honoring John Francis McCarthy and Sean Kirst. Tickets will include dinner, music and refreshments. Cocktails begin at 6:00 pm at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.
The parade will be Saturday, March 14, beginning at noon in downtown Syracuse. This year’s theme will be ‘A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words’. Units in St. Patrick’s Day parades often get green and white banner printing done beforehand for Banners sporting leprechauns, harps, shamrocks and other graphics associated with Ireland.
