This year’s Earth Day is on April 22, and the Liverpool area is doing its part to clean up the environment around this date.
The Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) hopes to exceed last year’s numbers, when over 7,300 county volunteers collected over 100,000lb of trash along highways, in local parks and community areas.
Onondaga County residents are encouraged to register and receive special trash bag stickers (two for each participant) for free disposal and disposal instructions by mail. Registrants will be reserving locations where they will pick up litter and trash and what times they will be doing it. Over 33 Onondaga County cities, towns, and villages will participate.
The event organizers hope that businesses, local organizations, and clubs will form teams. Teams participating in these types of events often get matching T-Shirts with a team name or team graphic design on them.
For residents cleaning their own areas, Trash and Recycling can be taken to Ley Creek, 5158 Ley Creek Drive here in Liverpool. Compost and mulch can be obtained by the truck load, bulk and bag at the Amboy Compost Site, 6296 Airport Road, Camillus and at Jamesville, at 4370 Route 91 in Jamesville.
OCRRA will have its annual Earth Day Litter Cleanup 2019 on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
