Liverpool businesses, nonprofits and marching units are readying for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Registration has already begun and will end on February 22. The 2019 green sheets will be released shortly.
Only decorated floats will be allowed this year, unless special arrangements have been made with the parade committee. Candy must be distributed by hand and not thrown from a vehicle. Floats will be judged on parade theme, originality, craftsmanship, design, and enthusiasm.
The theme this year will be “Syracuse. Irish. Family.” These three ideals represent family bonds, Irish culture, and pride in the city. They also are the ideals reflected in the Irish Claddagh.
Co-Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Joanie and Bernard Mahoney. A Grand Marshal Gala to honor the pair will be Friday, March 15 at 6:00 pm at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The evening will consist of refreshments, dinner and local Irish musicians and dancers. Gael of the Year will be Casey Vanderstouw the band director of the Baldwinsville Marching Band.
The parade will be divided into six divisions. They will be in order of line-up positions – The Connacht, Grand Marshal, Project Children (Wee), Leinster, Munster, and Ulster Divisions.
Cities like this usually take pictures of the event to include in brochure printing of their visitor guides.
The 37th Annual Syracuse St. Patrick’s Parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 starting at noon. It should be over around 3:00 pm.
