Liverpool area holds inaugural spooky event

Halloween is coming soon, and the Liverpool area has at least one house-to-house alternative.

This will be the first year for the Phoenix Festival of Frights. The event will begin with a parade starting at 1:00 pm at Three Rivers Plaza. The route will turn North on Main Street, left onto Oswego River Road, State Street, Chestnut Street and Cherry Street. The area will end at the VFW. Everyone can sign up, create their own floats, and dress in their Halloween best to take part.

From 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm there will be a combination Village Trick-or-Treat and a Trunk-or Treat along State Street. The cars for the Trunk-or-Treat will be spaced out with one empty parking space between each one.

Starting at 4:00 pm, Grimsley’s Gorge, the haunted house at the Sweet Memorial Building, will present a haunting experience featuring character actors.

Residents of Schroeppel and the Village of Phoenix can enter the Home Decorating contest. Those wishing to participate must acquire a free ticket and submit their home information before Tuesday, October 20. The judging will commence on Sunday, October 25.

Events like this often work well for families with small children. Pictures can be taken during the event and sent to local Stationery printers to be made into next year’s Holiday Cards for family and friends.

The Phoenix Festival of Frights will take place on Main Street in Phoenix, New York on Saturday, October 31 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
