Liverpool area goes Italian

Festa Italiana will be coming to downtown Syracuse in a few days.

Over 20 dance, music, and vocal acts will be divided between the Small Stage located on Fayette Street in the Key Bank parking lot, and on the Main Stage outside the State Office Building.

The 3rd Annual Charity One-Handed Meatball Eating contest will start things off at 12:30 pm on Friday. A $500 donation will be presented to the winner’s charity of choice. This contest will be held at the Fayette Street Small Stage or in the Children’s tent if the weather gets bad.

On Friday evening at 5:30 pm, The Onondaga Historical Association will host a presentation on Italian Immigration and its effect on culture, wine, and food in the Liverpool and Syracuse area. This will be at the City Hall Commons Atrium.

A Bocce Challenge will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday night in front of NYS Office Building. The annual tournament will take place at that location starting at 9:00 am on Saturday morning.

Italian Bingo will be in full swing Saturday from 12:30 pm until 6:00 pm in the Atrium, and will reconvene at 1:00 pm on Sunday.

Big families that attend events such as this often wear brightly colored matching T-Shirts sporting a wild graphic design so adults can keep track of the little ones.

La Festa Italiana will take place from September 13 through 15.
