Liverpool area celebrates Earth Day

Many communities throughout the area will be celebrating Earth Day this weekend, with Earthfest 2018 a key part of the occasion.

The free community annual event will have music and art with a sustainability theme. Local Liverpool and surrounding area artists, musicians, and prominent speakers are slated to attend. Food trucks, local food shops, and restaurants will be vending their specialties. Students and community organizations will have members distributing information and discussing their missions and services. Local merchants will be selling novelty items and some will be handing out coupons and Promotional Products.

A yoga session will take place half an hour before the event begins.

Earth Day will also be the day of the Second Annual Stumpy Stampede. The race will be a fundraiser for the Nature Conservancy CNY Chapter. Runners will receive swag Bags and goodies such as bagels and fruit. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and the course will go through the Oakwood Cemetery. This event is open to everyone.

Earthfest will be tomorrow, April 22, from noon until 4:00 pm at Thornden Park Amphitheater, Ostrom Avenue, Syracuse. The yoga session will go from 11:30 am until noon.

The Stumpy Stampede will take place tomorrow as well, starting at 9:30 am at the back of the facilities parking lot at SUNY-ESF, 940 Comstock Avenue, Syracuse.
