Special class ahead for Hewlett pet owners

A pet CPR and first aid course is open for pet parents and those that work with animals.

The wellbeing of an animal is foremost on the minds of most pet owners and people that work with animals each day. Despite this concern, many people do not have the skills needed to help their animal if a medical emergency were to arise. Anyone that spends any of their day in the company of animals may feel more comfortable knowing how to help an animal that is choking, bleeding or otherwise unwell. Completion of the class could even be beneficial for pet sitters, dog walkers or groomers to add to their business cards or advertisements.

The course is a four-hour class that includes CPR and first aid training with the use of a dog mannequin. Participants will learn how to restrain and muzzle a sick or injured animal, how to determine if an animal is unwell, and how to perform canine and feline CPR and choking assistance. All participants will go home with a Pet Saver manual for reference, and all students that complete the class and successfully demonstrate the techniques taught will receive a certificate of completion.

The class is organized by the Fabpuplously chic Pet Boutique and costs $97 per person for the class and the certification. Anyone interested in attending, or that would like to have more information, can contact the salon at 347-871-0767 or send an email to latoya@fabpuplouslychic.com. Directions to the class will be sent to all registered guests through an email as soon as payment is received. Additional classes for rescue groups and pet professionals are also available.

The course begins at 10:00 am on July 21.
