Local science center plans spooky event for Hewlett residents
Spooky Fest is an outdoor Halloween celebration that will offer family-appropriate spooky attractions and more.
The Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL) has an evening of eerie fun ready for any local families that want to join them on its preserve during the month of October. There are several event nights planned that will include walks down dark, haunted wooded trails. Special lighting and effects, along with appearances by a variety of characters, promise to make for a night of chills.
The event is meant to be slightly scary, but mostly fun, and there are plenty of non-spooky activities taking place too. There will be a live animal exhibit, food trucks, and arts and crafts. Face painting, non-scary monsters, and a children's maze should ensure that all will find something to entertain them.
Spooky Fest will take place at the CSTL Tanglewood Preserve at 1450 Tanglewood Road in Rockville Centre, where 16 acres of the preserve have been transformed for the event.
The evenings of October 14, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, are when the festival takes place. The fee is $10 per person for admission to just the non-spooky attractions and $15 for all attractions. There are no advance tickets sales and no discounted rates. More info can be found on the CSTL website.
